The FIVB continues to elevate the level of national teams around the world with the Bosnia and Herzegovina women’s national volleyball team being the latest team to benefit from coaching support.

In 2020, the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s application for 12-months of coaching support for its national women’s team in 2021 was approved by the FIVB. The team has since gone from strength to strength with Head Coach Stevan Ljubicic leading the talented team to their first-ever CEV Silver League title.

The national team has now earned its promotion to next year’s CEV Golden League and will look to continue to improve on their achievements of 2021.

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:

“I believe that developing national teams across the world is a core responsibility of the FIVB, and this is why we reinvest the money that comes from the sport back into the sport. However, we cannot do this without the dedication of National Federations who want to see the sport grow and provide opportunities for more and more people to engage with volleyball.

“This level of dedication is clear to see from the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and I am delighted to see their women’s national team find success at the continental level. I’m excited to see the progress this team makes in the months and years ahead.”

Former President Mr. Alija Fatić said:

“This was an extraordinary opportunity for our women’s national team. We knew we had a great team, but we needed a coach who could help us to fulfil our goals. The FIVB’s development support has helped us do more than we expected by winning the CEV Silver league for the first time and earning a promotion to the CEV Golden League 2022. Coach Stevan Ljubičić has made a lot of progress with his team, and I hope we will continue our cooperation in the future.”

Head Coach Ljubicic said:

"I was honoured to be a part of this programme with a talented Bosnia and Herzegovina women’s team. We had a hard task, especially during the pandemic, but we did more than expected. I would like to thank the FIVB for giving us this opportunity and to the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina who gave us all the necessary support to achieve our goals. I do not think we have reached out full potential yet and believe we can do even better in the future.”
