Hosts and dates for the FIVB Volleyball Age Group World Championships 2023 confirmed

The FIVB has announced the hosts and dates of the FIVB Volleyball Age Group World Championships 2023 in the U19 and U21 categories, following an open bidding process.


The events are an opportunity for the sport’s rising stars to showcase their talent in the highest level of international competition.


The FIVB Board of Administration approved for the FIVB Volleyball U19 World Championship for women’s teams to be co-hosted. Croatia and Hungary have been chosen to co-host the event from 1 to 11 August 2023. It has also been confirmed that the number of participating teams will increase from 20 to 24 for this event category to facilitate co-hosting, while the competition formula to be adjusted accordingly.


Meanwhile, Argentina is set to host the next edition of the FIVB Volleyball U19 World Championships for men’s teams from 4 to 13 August 2023.


The FIVB Volleyball U21 World Championships will be hosted by Mexico for the women’s event and Bahrain for the men’s edition. The cities of León and Aguascalientes will welcome the women’s teams from 17 to 26 August 2023 while the city of Manama will showcase the men’s edition of the tournament from 7 to 16 July 2023.


Following the decision of the FIVB Board of Administration in February 2022, the age categories for the age-group events have been aligned to the following: U19 and U21 Volleyball World Championships for men’s and women’s teams. This has been done to simplify and unify the tournaments, while facilitating the equal development of talent for both genders.


The Drawing of Lots will take place at least 3 months before each event to determine the composition of the pools.
