FIVB President discusses FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2022 with Mayor of the City of Katowice

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° today met with the Mayor of the City of Katowice, Marcin Krupa, as the city successfully organises the pools and prepares for the finals of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2022.


The meeting was also attended by Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS) President Sebastian Świderski, Volleyball World Chairman Fernando Lima and FIVB General Director Fabio Azevedo among other representatives of the PZPS and the Mayor’s Office.


The FIVB, Volleyball World, PZPS and the Mayor’s Office discussed the successful ongoing FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2022 co-hosted by Poland and Slovenia. In particular, a number of pools took place in Katowice with the city also set to stage the semi-finals and finals on 10 and 11 September 2022, respectively. Throughout the tournament, an amazing celebration of volleyball has been brought to the people of Katowice.


During the meeting, the FIVB President said:


“I am delighted with the organisation of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship here in Katowice and would like to congratulate the Mayor and his team, as well as the Polish Volleyball Federation, for working closely with the FIVB and Volleyball World to bring this huge event to Poland’s incredible volleyball fans.


“What I can see in the venue here in Katowice is truly remarkable. The fans enjoy the matches and passionately cheer for their national team. I am sure that the atmosphere during the semi-finals and finals will be even more electrifying.”


On Saturday 10 September at Spodek Arena in the city of Katowice, hosts Poland will take on Brazil in the first semi-final while the co-hosts Slovenia will face Italy in the other semi-final. The finals are then set to take place on Sunday 11 September.
