Brazil announce first call-ups for 2021
CEV-FIVB : Infos sam 3 avril 2021Brazil’s national team head coaches Jose ‘Ze Roberto’ Guimaraes and Renan Dal Zotto have announced a first list of players who will be part of the country’s squads for the 2021 international season, which includes the FIVB Volleyball Nations League and the Tokyo Olympics.
Eleven female players and four male athletes were called up by the coaches and will arrive at the country’s national federation training facility in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro on Monday, to start their preparations.
Ze Roberto’s list includes as many as three gold medallists from the London 2012 Olympics in setter Dani Lins, opposite Tandara Caixeta and middle blocker Adenizia Ferreira. The other players selected by the coach are setter Roberta Ratzke, opposites Lorenne Teixeira and Rosamaria Montibeller, outside hitter Ana Cristina Souza and middle blockers Ana Beatriz ‘Bia’ Correa and Mayany Souza and liberos Camila Brait and Nyeme Costa.
More names should be added to the list next week, after the conclusion of the country’s Women’s Superliga, which has Itambe Minas and Dentil Praia Clube facing each other in the final. Several players involved in the series, most notably setter Macris Carneiro, outside hitter Fernanda Garay and middle blockers Thaisa Menezes and Ana Carolina ‘Carol’ da Silva, are expected to be part of the Brazilian roster.
Outside hitter Karina Souza and middle blockers Diana Alecrim and Lorena Viezel, who worked with Ze Roberto at Sao Paulo Barueri during the club season, will also be part of the preparation as invited players.

On the men’s side, Renan selected four players from Sada Cruzeiro Volei in his first call-up. Setter Fernando ‘Cachopa’ Kreling, opposite Alan Souza, outside hitter Rodrigo ‘Rodriguinho’ Leao and middle blocker Isac Santos will be the first to arrive at the training facility.
They will be joined in the first training sessions by four other players who were invited to the training camp – opposite Darlan Souza, who is Alan’s younger brother, outside hitter Maicon Franca, middle blocker Leonardo Andrade and libero Alexandre Elias.
