  • Enhanced support for the Chilean Volleyball Federation through the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment programme

  • The nation is set to receive CHF 272,000 for this season

  • Follows CHF 72,000 received in 2023

The exciting growth and development of Chilean volleyball continues with the announcement that the Chilean Volleyball Federation (La Federación de Voleibol de Chile (FEVOCHI)) will received enhanced support through the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment programme. The announcement took place at the Marlene Ahrens Olympic Training Center.

In 2023, Chilean volleyball received CHF 72,000 from the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment programme, which was used for coach support and additional equipment. Now, in 2024, FIVB has granted FEVOCHI CHF 180,000 in coaching support, CHF 90,000 towards a Gerflor indoor court, and CHF 2,000 for additional equipment such as posts and nets.

The projects for 2024, which were approved by the FIVB earlier this year, and presented by FEVOCHI, signal a transformative era for volleyball in Chile. With this substantial investment from the FIVB, volleyball in the sport-loving nation can continue to flourish. In particular, teams will have the help of four highly experienced coaches, who will be welcomed this month.

Leading men's indoor volleyball will be Álvaro del Campo and Nicolás Ippolito, while the women's team will benefit from the guidance of Raúl Pereira. On the sandy shores, Felipe Gómez and Luceida will take charge.

"For the Chilean Volleyball Federation and our national volleyball, the reception of these resources bears immense significance as they align with the sport's development and growth trajectory. Never before in volleyball history have we received such generous backing from the FIVB, a testament to the commendable work ethic, unwavering dedication showcased on international platforms, and the collaborative efforts with key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Institute, and the Chilean Olympic Committee," remarked FEVOCHI President, Jorge Pino Madrid.
