FIVB and FIPAV join forces to promote volleyball development in Italy and worldwide
CEV-FIVB : Infos sam 27 mai 2023The FIVB and Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) this week signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Stadio dei Marmi in Rome to join forces and strengthen the development of volleyball and beach volleyball in Italy and globally.
The MoU was signed by FIVB President Dr Ary. S. Graça F° and FIPAV President Giuseppe Manfredi, in the presence of the President of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), Giovanni Malagò. This collaboration will see both organisations cooperate across projects in various areas, including knowledge transfer, technical support, ambassador programmes and exploring the potential of sharing surplus volleyball equipment for approved FIVB development projects.

Through this partnership, the FIVB and FIPAV aim to advance the growth and development of volleyball worldwide, while ensuring a positive impact on events and participants.
The signing ceremony brought together leaders in the world of sport and volleyball, alongside representatives from the media. Additionally, thousands of enthusiastic young children gathered around the Stadio dei Marmi for the Volley S3 event in Rome. Volley S3 is a youth event organised by FIPAV.
FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said:
"Our goal is to support and help federations where volleyball struggles to grow. We want to have many more competitive nations to raise the level of world volleyball. I am not only referring to Africa, but also to many other nations that we can support through new technologies. We are very happy that the Italian Volleyball Federation is the first to sign this agreement and, in the coming weeks, other federations will join. The FIVB strongly believes in this project and will do its best to achieve the set goals."
FIPAV President Guiseppe Manfredi said:
"We are very happy to collaborate with the FIVB for the implementation of this agreement. Already with the European Confederation we have started a path to support and help the growth of less developed federations. Through this agreement we will be able to have an organic project and be even more effective. I am convinced that if we want to improve, we need to make other federations grow as well; a gap that is too wide harms the whole volleyball movement."
CONI President Giovanni Malagò said :
"This is a very interesting cooperation, which draws attention to a common problem in sports: too wide a sports gap between different realities. Even the IOC is giving more and more importance to the issue of Olympic solidarity, making sport, in this case volleyball, grow in more countries means enhancing the whole world volleyball movement. Volleyball has a great asset, and I am sure it will use it in the best way to grow further."
The event was also attended by FIVB General Director Fabio Azevedo, FIVB Executive Vice-President and CEV Senior Vice-President Renato Arena, FIPAV Vice-President Luciano Cecchi, FIPAV General Secretary Stefano Bellotti, former Brazilian Olympic champion Giba, as well as Andrea Lucchetta and Valerio Vermiglio, both of whom are involved in the Volley S3 event.
