FIVB mourns passing of Brazilian player Ana Paula Borgo

The FIVB is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Ana Paula Borgo, a former player of the Brazil national volleyball team, at only 29 years of age following her brave battle with cancer.


Born on 20 October 1993, in the city of Bauru in São Paulo, Borgo started her professional volleyball career at São Caetano and went on to play for Pinheiros, Osasco, Praia Clube and Fluminense. She will be remembered by all in the volleyball community for her bravery on and off the court and her passion for volleyball.


Borgo also represented the Brazil national team on several occasions and was part of the Brazilian team that took silver at the Volleyball Nations League in 2019. She also won gold with the national team at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U23 World Championship 2015 where Brazil triumphed over hosts Türkiye.


Following a successful career with several club sides in Brazil, Borgo went on to play for clubs Kale 1957 in Türkiye and Volleyball Bergamo in Italy.


The FIVB and the global Volleyball Family extends its deepest condolences to the Brazilian volleyball community, as well as her family and loved ones at this very difficult time.
