FIVB President welcomes Japanese Volleyball Association President to FIVB Headquarters

FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° recently held meetings with Japanese Volleyball Association (JVA) President Shunichi Kawai, a former volleyball player and Olympian, during his first official visit to the FIVB Headquarters since he took over at the helm of the JVA.


Joined by their respective teams as well as Volleyball World, both leaders discussed a number of important topics over two days of meetings. Key focal points of the discussions included the ways in which the FIVB and Volleyball World can support the JVA’s ambitions and plans, as well as the country’s interest in hosting more international events as the National Federation looks ahead to its 100th anniversary celebrations in 2027.


Following the visit, the FIVB President said:


“The Japanese Volleyball Association has been a loyal partner of the FIVB for a long time, and I was pleased to welcome Shunichi Kawai to the FIVB Headquarters last week. As a two-time Olympian and former athlete, Kawai-san has a deep knowledge of volleyball and a strong passion and vision for the sport’s development in Japan. At the FIVB, we are delighted to work together with the JVA to bring more exciting opportunities and international events to Japan which is well-known for its passion for our sport and long-standing volleyball traditions.”


The visit has also served as a reinforcement of the importance of close relations and in-person meetings to maintain strong communications between the FIVB and JVA.
